A chatbot is a dialogue system between humans and machines. Information can be exchanged or instructions given. This is based on software or a form of artificial intelligence to process the inputs.

Chatbots are used in private or professional environments. A distinction is made between the areas of business-to-business (B2B) or business-to-customer (B2C). We will introduce you to a few chatbots and voice assistants from both areas.

B2B chatbots

B2B communication using chatbots is a market that is still poorly developed. When companies do business with each other, the majority of this is still done by people. The preferred method of communication is online and in text form. Companies in this area in particular can benefit from chatbots to reduce the number of employees and at the same time improve accessibility and service.

B2C chatbots

Chatbots, on the other hand, are already more common in B2C communication. Many are familiar with the voice assistants on smartphones or have already come into contact with a chatbot during online research. The language assistants are used to find out the customer's concerns and, in the best case, to help directly. If this is not successful, contact is established with a real person. Overall, this reduces the number of employees and increases the company's level of service.

Siri, Apple's assistance system, is primarily used to control the iPhone. It allows control and access to all functions of the system. The assistant is available on all Apple devices and offers the option of contactless control.

Cortana

Cortana is the Windows chatbot. Cortana can be controlled both by voice and by entering commands directly. The system can be used to search the Internet or to request news and weather information. These can be read out directly by the system.

Google Assistant

The Google Assistant can be used on both Android and iOS devices. The assistant can be used to control Google Maps and other Google applications.

Sally is an assistance system aimed at business customers. The aim is, for example, to connect to a company's customer relationship management system. As a result, employees can also interact at work in a similar way to the aforementioned private assistance systems. The search for and input of customer data or order information can be carried out, for example, via voice input to the assistance system.
